Blue Stones

Planning & Implementation

Blue Stone Strategy Group uses a proprietary methodology to evaluate new business opportunities for Tribes. Blending traditional and cultural considerations with cutting edge investment valuation techniques, we offer valuable independent investment advice. We conduct our own due diligence, evaluating management and key personnel.

In addition, our team interviews management, suppliers, board members, customers, partners and industry experts. We also perform an economic and industry driver risk assessment and will partake in site visits and asset verifications when required.

Utilizing this information, we build a pro forma financial forecast and return on investment model that demonstrates the potential value of the investment. We then connect the new business with expected returns and with tribal economic impact to present a clear picture of the investment potential to decision makers.

We have conducted numerous new business investment assessments for more than 20 Tribes across America. These have included the following types of businesse

  • Banks
  • Natural Resources
  • Amusement Parks
  • Electronic Manufacturing
  • Solar Manufacturing
  • Hotels
  • Casinos
  • Sand and Gravel
  • Building Supply Manufacturing
  • Green Electricity Production
  • Rodeos
  • RV Parks
  • Healthcare Facilities
  • Gas Stations
  • Travel Centers
  • Smoke Shops
  • Hunting Reserves
  • Dude Ranches
  • Fast Food Franchising
  • Real estate Investments

In each case, our team provided an independent quantifiable assessment of the opportunity and clear recommendations for next steps.

Case Study

A Tribe from the Southwest had several business enterprises running directly as divisions of Tribal government. After years of underperformance, Blue Stone was hired to develop an economic development corporation. Utilizing best practices nationwide, we constructed bylaws and an operating plan that created an entity which balanced the need for outside expertise and internal Tribal control.

Our team also helped the Tribe incorporate a sizable investment fund into the new development corporation to finance business expansion over time. The result was a new $30 million development corporation comprised of six Tribal enterprises that is self-sufficient financially, and pays annual dividends back to the Tribal government.
