Case Studies

Small Business

A $10 million dollar private equity fund company, a specialty paper manufacturer, was experiencing an eroding market share. Blue Stone came in at the request of the fund and diagnosed the root cause of the problem – market saturation and wholesale supply chain constriction. The answer was to switch from “push” to “pull” marketing with an “application” based sales approach; selling specific creative uses of their paper to end users rather than selling the attributes of their paper to wholesalers.

Publicly Traded Company

The company was at a crossroads. Board members were split in multiple strategic directions, and management was unwilling to set a desired end goal. Blue Stone provided board of director and management team facilitation, and worked with management on a strategic plan including market scenarios and options for the future, ranging from acquisitions, LBO and sales to competitors.

Non Profit Organization

A partnership of foundations, a charter school and workforce support organization were under consideration for an unprecedented $15 million program funded by multinational financial institutions. Blue Stone provided a range of project management services to enable application completion in a condensed time frame. We developed a project management structure, governance plan for the new entity, outlined policy considerations, and coordinated the competitive selection of CDFI and long income housing development organizations.
